— Train Holidays —

Where the journey is the destination.

Belmond Royal Scotsman through the Highlands. The Maharajas' Express across Rajasthan. The Eastern & Oriental Express. Trains that are themselves the holiday.

— Why this style with us —

Train Holidays — done thoughtfully.

Luxury train travel is having a renaissance. The Belmond family of trains, the Maharajas' Express, the Trans-Siberian and the Rocky Mountaineer all offer something planes can't: time, view, romance. We've booked travellers on every major luxury train route — we know which ones live up to the brochures (most do, surprisingly) and which offer the best experience for first-timers.

— What sets us apart —

Three things we always get right.

01

Iconic train experiences

We book the most celebrated journeys: Belmond Royal Scotsman, Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, Maharajas' Express, Eastern & Oriental Express, Rocky Mountaineer.

02

Premium cabins, never standard

Grand Suites with private bathrooms and showers. The difference between a comfortable journey and an unforgettable one.

03

Curated stop-off experiences

Off-train excursions arranged: tea at country houses, private city tours, distillery visits, palace lunches. Train + land combined.

— Where we recommend —

Best places, chosen for this style of journey.

Belmond Royal Scotsman (Scotland)

Four to seven nights through the Highlands. Castles, distilleries, golf courses. Carriages from 1920s, restored to glory.

Maharajas' Express (India)

Seven nights through Rajasthan — Delhi to Mumbai via Jaipur, Agra, Jodhpur, Udaipur. Palace-themed cabins, royal cuisine.

Venice Simplon-Orient-Express (Europe)

London-Paris-Venice in vintage 1920s carriages. Cabins with sleeping berths, dressing for dinner, big band on the platform.

Rocky Mountaineer (Canada)

Vancouver to Banff or Jasper in glass-domed observation carriages. Glaciers, lakes, bears. Day train, hotel each night.

Scenic rail journeys
— Sample itinerary —

A week, shaped around what matters.

An example — every journey we plan is unique to you.

Day 1

London King's Cross. Champagne breakfast on platform before boarding the Belmond Royal Scotsman. Departure ceremony with bagpipes.

Day 2

Wake in the Highlands. Off-train: visit to a private castle and gardens. Long lunch on board. Whisky tasting at a distillery in the afternoon.

Day 3

Wake at Boat of Garten. Salmon-fishing experience or steam train ride. Return to the carriage for tea. Black-tie dinner with live music.

Day 4

Off-train: golf at Royal Dornoch, or sheep-dog demonstration at a working farm. Carriage drinks at sundown.

Day 5

Final morning aboard. Disembark at Edinburgh. Optional extension at The Balmoral Hotel. Or onwards by air.

The Belmond Royal Scotsman was a fiftieth birthday present to my husband. Three nights, six stops, every meal a tasting menu, the cabin like a 1920s drawing room. The bagpipe send-off had us both in tears. Magical, properly magical.
