Whitewashed Cycladic islands, ancient temples watched by goats, 6,000 islands and 4,000 years of stories. The Mediterranean done classically.
Greece is two trips in one — ancient and Aegean. The mainland gives you the Acropolis, Delphi, Meteora monasteries. The islands give you sailing, sunsets, and a slower kind of life. We plan multi-island itineraries by yacht or small ship; mainland stays for archaeology lovers; and combined trips for those wanting everything. Avoid August (heat, crowds). June, September and early October are the sweet spots.
Each season has its character — here's what to expect.
Sea begins to warm (22°C), wildflowers, hotels open but quiet. Best month for active travellers.
Sea still 24°C, fewer tourists, longer dinner evenings, harvest season. Our favourite for couples.
Hot (35°C+), crowded, expensive. Best for sailing (calm seas). Avoid Santorini cruise-ship season.
Most island hotels closed. Mainland (Athens, Delphi, Meteora) open. Great for archaeology tours.
The capital. Hotel Grande Bretagne (Acropolis views from rooftop bar). 3 days for Acropolis, Acropolis Museum, Plaka, Anafiotika neighbourhoods.
The iconic crescent. Caldera-edge hotels — Andronis Concept, Mystique. Sunset in Oia is famous; sunset in Imerovigli is quieter and just as good.
The party island done luxuriously. Cavo Tagoo, Bill & Coo. Daytime sailing, beach clubs, Little Venice for dinner. Lively.
Largest island. Mountains, beaches, Minoan ruins, traditional villages. Daios Cove, Blue Palace. Underrated for week-long stays.
No cars (only donkeys). 90 minutes from Athens. Bratsera Hotel, Orloff Resort. The Aegean's most preserved harbour town.
The hidden Cycladic gem. 800 residents. Anemi Hotel. White-washed Hora village. What Santorini was 40 years ago.
The famous experiences
The hidden ones (only we know)
Layers of aubergine, lamb mince, béchamel. Best when home-cooked.
The everyday street food. Best at family-run tavernas, not tourist strips.
Whole sea bream, lemon, olive oil. Pay by weight.
Tomato, cucumber, olives, feta, oregano, olive oil. The simplest, when ingredients are this good.
Spinach and feta in filo. Every grandmother's recipe is the best.
The afternoon ritual. Aniseed liquor with small plates by the sea.
Aman's Greek property. Modern temple architecture on a hilltop. Private villas with pools. Most exclusive Greek stay.
Cliff-edge minimalism. The cleanest sunsets on the island. Spa, restaurant, infinity pool.
Since 1874. Acropolis views from the rooftop pool. The grand hotel of Athens.
Private bay, funicular access. Family-friendly luxury with adult-only sections.
An example — every itinerary we plan is unique to you.
Hotel Grande Bretagne. Private Acropolis tour, Acropolis Museum, evening at the rooftop bar.
Andronis Concept. Sunset in Imerovigli (not Oia — quieter).
Private boat day around caldera, wine tastings, sunset cruise to Thirassia.
Anemi Hotel. Hora village, sunset at the castle ruins.
Cavo Tagoo. Beach day at Scorpios, Little Venice dinner.
Final breakfast. Flight home.
We sailed the Cyclades for 8 nights on a chartered yacht. Kishan organised the route — Athens, Hydra, Mykonos, Paros, Naxos, Santorini. The crew of 4 became friends. We anchored at empty coves, swam off the back, ate octopus caught that morning. Best trip of our lives.
